    Sister Mary Lea Scholarship Application

    The Sister Mary Lea Scholarship was established by the Alumni Association of Mount St. Joseph University in honor of Sister Mary Lea Mueller, who served as Alumni Director for 35 years. The $2,000 award is presented each year to students who meet eligibility requirements and is recommended by an alumnus/a of the Mount.

    Eligibility:
    • Any new first-year student who has been accepted at the Mount and is recommended by an alumnus/a of the Mount. (Preference will be given to relatives of MSJ Alumni.)
    • Ability to maintain a 3.0 grade point average while at the Mount. Scholarship is renewable up to eight (8) consecutive semesters, provided the recipient is enrolled as a full time undergraduate student and maintains a 3.0 GPA.
    Application Process: 
    • Alumnus/a sponsor submits a typed letter of recommendation. Submit this letter to the Office of Admission, by January 31:

      • Mail to: Mount St. Joseph University Office of Admission, 5701 Delhi Rd. Cincinnati, OH 45233 (Postmarked by January 31)
    • Applicant submits a typewritten essay, 500 words or less, stating why application for the scholarship is being made and how education at the Mount will benefit him/her. High school honors, awards, recognitions and extracurricular activities should be included.
    COMPLETED APPLICATIONS ARE DUE JANUARY 31. APPLICATIONS ARE COMPLETE ONLY WHEN ALL MATERIALS HAVE BEEN RECEIVED. INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.

    Scholarship awards are made at the sole discretion of Mount St. Joseph University.  By submitting this scholarship application, applicants, on behalf of themselves and their parents, guardians, spouses, heirs, and assigns (as applicable), waive any and all claims against Mount St. Joseph University and its employees, officers, directors, representatives, and volunteers related to, in connection with, or arising from applying for this scholarship, including, but not limited to, a decision that results in applicant not receiving a scholarship in any amount.
